Sweet Action: NFL Week 5

Kevin, the host of the D.C. Sports Guys, will start the NFL season with $100 of his own money. The objective is simple: make as much as possible betting on NFL games. No funds can be added during the season. He will either lose it all or be smoking a victory cigar on February 7, 2010.

In week 4 of NFL Picks I correctly picked 13 of 14 games.  Unfortunately the game I got wrong, Buffalo vs. Miami, I used in two of last week's Sweet Action bets.

On the plus side, the remaining two bets won bringing in $44.91.  That raises the total account value to $122.20.

This week I'm putting up $70 to win $1,917.86.  The 9 team parlay skews the numbers a bit, but house money is fun to play with so LET IT RIDE!

Check out the metrics for the entire season here: http://www.dcsportsguys.com/2009/09/sweet-action-kevins-nfl-20092010.html

Team
Reason and Action
Minnesota Vikings
They play the Rams.

Action: Vikings -10.5 and Teased
New York Giants

Even with Eli listed as questionable the Giants should have no problem sending Oakland back to California 1-4.

Action: Giants Teased
Cincinnati Bengals

The Cleveland team the Bengals faced last week led by Derek Anderson is not the same Cleveland team the Raven's faced in week 3.  I wouldn't put a lot of stock into comparing those match-ups.  The Bengals with Carson Palmer at 100% can hang with any team.  If they lose, the game is most likely going to be close. It most definitely won't be by more than a couple touchdowns.  At +8.5 this game is begging to be teased 6 points or more.

Action: Bengals +9 (buy .5) and Teased
Houston Texans

The Cardinals defense is not what it was in the playoffs last year.  Kurt Warner is also having problems staying upright in the pocket.

Even if this game becomes an offensive battle, Houston showed that they can win a shootout when they played the Titans week 2.

Action: Texans +6 (buy .5) and Teased
Philadelphia Eagles

It doesn't matter who starts at QB.  The Eagles will beat Tampa Bay.  No money line on this game so tease the points to a more respectable number.

Action: Eagles Teased
Pittsburgh Steelers

The Lions may be better than they were last year, but there is no way they will beat the Steelers.  Unfortunately the Steelers have a knack for keeping scores close so bring the -11 to -4 in a 3 or 4 team Teaser.

Action: Steelers Teased
Seattle Seahawks

Hasselbeck is back.  Seattle is a much better team with him in the line up. At -2 consider Seattle "on sale" this week at home against Jacksonville.

Action: Seahawks -2
Indianapolis Colts

Matt Schaub threw for 357 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Titans in week 2.  The Colts have a QB by the name of Peyton Manning.  He might have a career day.

Also, the Colts defense is only allowing an average of 15.5 points per game.  Bad news for Kerry Collins and Tennessee.

Action: Colts -4 and on the Money Line -210
Dallas Cowboys

Romo may not be playing like a top level QB, but Dallas has enough talent to get past the lowly Chiefs.

Action: Dallas on the Money Line -400
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers proved they can hang with the best in the league when they nearly took out Minnesota in week 3.

The Falcons have yet to put together a consistent ground attack which will be the difference in this game.

Acton: 49ers -3
New England Patriots
Baring a repeat of the miracle that occurred in week 1, Denver will experience what the Jets and Ravens already have.  The Patriots will hand another team their first loss of the season.

Action: Pats -3 and on the Money Line -170
N.Y. Jets
Rex Ryan will not be fooled by the Wildcat.  The Jets defense will be able to stop anything Miami throws their way.

Action: Jets -2
