Under "normal" circumstances:

Game 4: 5/8 (in Pitt)
Game 5: 5/10 (in Was)
Game 6: 5/12 (in Pitt) -- Yanni Extravaganza
Game 7: 5/14 (in Was)

The 14th is the last day for all round 2 games in the NHL. So because of the concert Game 6 had to fall on either 5/11 (the chosen date) or 5/13. Either way they do it 2 games have to be back to back so everyone in Pittsburgh can get their Yanni fix. Why they chose games 4 and 5... I don't know, but if it wasn't those 2 then either games 5 and 6 or 6 and 7 would have had to been back to back.

Actual Schedule:
GAME 4: @ Pittsburgh, Fri. 5/8, 7 p.m. ET
GAME 5: @ Washington, Sat. 5/9, 7 p.m. ET
GAME 6: @ Pittsburgh, Mon. 5/11, TBD
GAME 7: @ Washington Wed. 5/13, 7 p.m. ETAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05569320534690904801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787291261992553839.post-54634549829524238682009-05-05T02:19:00.000-04:002009-05-05T02:19:00.000-04:00First of all, I don't see how any of this is even ...First of all, I don't see how any of this is even relevant, being that game 5 is in Washington.

If anything, the fail is on Washington.

Every game up until game 5 is every other day. First, the knock here isn't so much against the Penguins as it is against the town of Pittsburgh, which boasts that it is a "hockey town", yet seem fit to scheduling Yanni concerts that conflict with the NHL Playoffs. Secondly, the post refers to scheduling concerts that are "against NHL rules". Whether a team leases or owns the building they are in there are rules both the team and the facility have to abide by, this appears to be one of them. So nice try, but there is nothing but FAIL for the town of Pittsburgh on this topic. They have a lease, but Mellon Arena is free to schedule other events in the building if they so choose, because...well...it brings in money, and that IS the goal.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Pens, NHL, or the "fans".The Pens will beat the Capitalshttp://andthereisnothingyouwilldoaboutit.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787291261992553839.post-31402085005121000152009-04-30T23:36:00.000-04:002009-04-30T23:36:00.000-04:00Yanni? So go Yanni! Plus since the Caps are sooooooooo good, you should be able to handle back to back games with no problem. The pens-caps series starts a day later than every other series (for Saturday TV purposes), so there's no reason that it couldn't be the one scheduled to finish last too. The other 3 series have a double off day built in. With that in mind, there's no reason you couldn't have game 5 on Sunday in DC, game 6 on Wednesday in Pittsburgh, and game 7 Friday night back in DC. That would put the finish one day behind the Det-Ana and Bos-Car series and seem perfectly reasonable. Yanni is a fun scapegoat, but someone at the league office is just bad at this.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11578075137363490135noreply@blogger.com
